HOW DOES THE WHOLE PROCESS WORK?
- 2 Weeks Before Your Session -
Either by phone of by email we will discuss any specifications and wishes. I will send you a few forms to fill out, which will cover all the details most important for capturing the best images possible . You will also receive a contract and a model release to return. A few days before your session, I will give you a confirmation email.
- The Day Of Your Session -
When you arrive at your scheduled time, I will get to know you (and your child, if it is a child session). Prepare for a wonderful time during out session.
- Very Shortly After Your Session -
I always try to post at least one “sneak peek” to the blog or social media from your session, edited, retouched, and archived. I know everyone is anxious to see the results.
- 2-3 Weeks After Your Session -
We will schedule an in person proofing session, where we will meet to reveal your final images and pick your favorites.
If you choose to take advantage of the complimentary design service, we will meet in your home. During this design service. you will be able to view your images in your own home and visualize groupings in terms of size, arrangements, and style. We can also use this opportunity to take orders for gift prints, albums, and any of the other unique keepsakes we offer. Your online gallery will be activated as well.
- 5-6 Weeks After Your Session -
You artwork and albums are ready for pick up! At this time we will also provide a client care card packet, which will ensure a long life for your precious heirlooms.
WHAT IF WE GET BAD WEATHER?
Outdoor shoots offer the best available light and surroundings for your portraits but if Mother Nature threatens to rain on our parade, don’t worry, there’s always options:
Plan A: When its plain the dire weather forecast is right for a change, we will be in contact to reschedule
Plan B: Move to an in studio session!
Plan C: Adventurous? We have the skills and protective gear. However, if storm chaser weather develops we will finish the session later
When scheduling an outdoor portrait session with Portraits of Grace Photography, you may notice that I recommend shooting during a very precise time of day - generally the last 60 to 90 minutes before the sun has completely set. This special window is known to photographers as “The Golden Hour” and is the period of time when the light from the sun is at its most perfect. With its long rays diffused across the entire sky, the light creates a flattering glow and shimmer for picture perfect skintones and deliciously warm portraits.
During midday, when every ray of the sun seems to find its way to our delicate overexposed skin, the shadows created are usually too deep in contrast to the glare. Instead of fighting the harsh light, it is better to schedule outdoor shooting during Golden Hour when the sun still works its magic - but in our favor.

I am looking forward to your session! This is such an exciting time because I have the opportunity to get to know you and capture some fun, exciting photographs for you in the process. All work and no play make for boring portraits, so here is what you can expect from Portraits of Grace Photography:
Location, Location, Location: WE will discuss where you would like to have your session (we will already have an understanding based on our prior phone or email conversations). We might meet at your home, the local park, a beautiful green field, the beach, or in my studio. I also scout locations constantly so I may have some last minute suggestions for you to consider as well.
Please allow one to two hours for our full session. This will enable us to get the perfect amount of images with variety that allows for wardrobe changes as well.
I work quickly capturing natural smiles so photography doesn’t feel like a chore. Portraits of Grace delights in providing a super, safe setting for everyone involved to have FUN!
Fun is NOT an Option:
You shoot will be full-on fun, complete with laughs, hugs, and playtime. There’s no manufacturing a good time; when you are with loved ones, exuberance and spontaneity take over, for the most natural, exciting images.
