Lieske and Jeff’s love story plays out like a real-life fairytale. Their beautiful outdoor wedding in Northern California united two families that were destined to be linked from the very beginning. Lieske and Jeff’s fun-loving spirit was lovingly injected into every aspect of their magical day, and their deep love for one another shone through from start to finish.
A love story spanning decades
The couple’s lives have followed the same path since childhood. Jeff’s mom was Lieske’s elementary school teacher, and she also conducts the community band that both of Lieske’s parents have played in for 25 years. Jeff first realized he had a crush on Lieske back in 6th grade, but he didn’t make a move until much later. The couple went through middle and high school together and played in the same local orchestra. Lieske teased Jeff for playing French horn and in return, he would make bad viola jokes. But, romance didn’t blossom for the pair.
That is, until many years later, when several chance meetings eventually led to the couple hanging out. On a trip to Disneyland, Lieske and Jeff realized that this was it: they were meant to be together forever. On what was to become the first day of the rest of their lives, Jeff proposed in front of Small World: one of Lieske’s favorite rides.
The couple’s fairytale continued as they planned their dream wedding. Their chosen venue for the ceremony and reception was Wedgewood Weddings Redwood Canyon in the heart of Castro Valley, Northern California. And, in March 2018, Lieske and Jeff declared their love for one another surrounded by 85 of their dearest family and friends.
A Day of Love and Fun
The couple’s sense of fun was at the heart of the entire day. The air was thick with laughter and love from the moment the bridal party gathered to have their hair and makeup done by Bfab. From the wedding party’s custom Converse and a few fun nods to the groom’s love of Jeeps to the theme park-related name cards, every personal touch nodded to the couple’s sense of adventure.
After a rainy start to the day, the clouds magically cleared just in time for Lieske and Jeff to say their vows outside as planned. Their sunny late-morning ceremony was alive with laughter. Delicate pastel bouquets by Enchanted Florist accompanied the bridal party down the aisle, perfectly complimenting the lush greenery of their enchanted surroundings.
As the afternoon progressed, the party atmosphere continued. Guests enjoyed cocktails in the beautiful afternoon light surrounded by atmospheric woods, enchanting meadows, and dramatic canyons.
Later, they dined on a hearty buffet lunch before toasting the happy couple with speeches by the maid of honor and best man. Lilac and fuchsia florals adorned the beautiful space where the reception was held, and the classic four-tier wedding cake by Danville Bakery was crowned with the same sweet-smelling roses. Every element of the afternoon was deeply personal and drenched in good humor and happiness.
Lieske says that she still has a hard time believing that their magical story is actually true, but the greatest love stories are always the hardest to believe.
